Spirit has a very special story. Keith, husband of our rescue President Nancy, stumbled upon a video online pleading for someone to help. With very little information and a lot of determination, Emre managed to find this poor pup and bring him to safety. His body was ridden with mange. He was emaciated and had lost much of his fur. His internal wounds were as deep as his physical ones. And yet, he found it in himself to put trust in his rescuers - this was the first step to healing him, inside and out. Through it all, his spirit was strong. After months of treatment and healing, Spirit is ready to find his family. This boy has shown us that he has a fun and playful spirit. He loves balls and knows how to give paw. Spirit loves attention from people and Emre loves him so much. We are so proud of how far he has come and know that he will thrive with his very own family. Some things to be mindful of before applying to adopt Spirit: While Spirit is doing great and has recovered miraculously, his family should be prepared to take on any potential medical needs that might arise as consequence of his past. Things like severe malnutrition, ticks, and an unknown past life on the streets can result in potentially costly medical issues that don’t show themselves until months or years down the road. Spirit has shown us a sweet and loving personality and has done well with other dogs while in our care. Nonetheless, as with all of our pups, a change in environment can lead to unexpected behaviors. Spirit has experienced much hardship in his life and his family should be prepared to work through any behavioral challenges that might arise. Spirit is estimated to be a young pup of about 2-3 years old. He will need plenty of physical and mental stimulation, in addition to lots of love, affection, and a little spoiling.🥰 Spirit is in Türkiye and has not been tested with cats or children.
