Bambi is a 1 yr old Bichon Frise originally purchased from a backyard-breeding situation in the Houston, TX area. Her previous family intended to only adopt her brother, but once they saw the conditions that the dogs were living in they ended up taking both puppies home. Once they got her and her brother home she started exhibiting behavior that led them to believe that she had been previously abused (quick hand movements resulted in her cowering and if the kids screamed she would run and hide). Because of this, we are looking for a forever home for Bambi either without children, or with children who are older and who understand they need to move slowly with her and respect her space. Bambi is currently living with a in Texas with a foster who is slowly earning her trust and helping her feel more comfortable. She is now seeking and accepting affection, but she needs a family that is willing to give her time to decompress and open up at her own pace. She came to us very matted, but has now been recently groomed and spayed. She currently weighs about 15 pounds and recently tested heartworm negative. She is up to date on vaccinations and is on preventatives. She is house broken but not kennel trained. She does well with and likes to play with other dogs, but has not been tested with cats. Can you give Bambi the low-key, compassionate home that she needs?
