Sometimes the hardest thing to accept in rescue is that we cannot change their past. 💔 We usually don’t know what happened, but we can guess. And for some dogs, their desperate need for love and compassion is so profound, it starts to paint a heartbreaking story…. Huey was found by one of our rescue partners in Turkey, very terrified and shivering. It was clear within a few moments of meeting him, he had experienced severe abuse. 😠And considering he was estimated to be under a year old, we were devastated, yet even more motivated to change his life for the better. â™¥ï¸ We knew the Garden would be too much for this boy. But we also knew he needed more time to gain confidence and build trust in humans before he would be ready for a forever home. So he flew to the US with Nancy and thankfully one of our amazing TPGHR families agreed to give him the space and time to settle upon his arrival. 🌤 Since arriving to his foster family in May, Huey has made great strides in learning what it is like to be a dog and a part of a family. He has more work ahead of him on his road to recovery from his past traumas but we feel he is ready for a family of his own and we need your help to find his people! 🙠We would like to find Huey someone who is home during the day or works from home. He would do best with children over the age of 12 and would thrive with a playful yet gentle dog sibling to show him the ropes. And most importantly, we are searching for someone who is willing to work with him through his anxieties, resource guarding tendencies and help him heal from his past while changing his future. â˜€ï¸ His rescuer compared him to a butterfly and said, “when he trusts, he flies with happiness.†He may still be within the silk of a cocoon, but we know he will spread his wings and learn to fly with the right person. 🦋 If you would like to show this boy love and compassion, please apply to adopt on our website. If you cannot adopt, please share to help us find his people. ♥ï¸â™¥ï¸ðŸ™ He has not been tested with cats.
